On December 6 and 7, Alzheimer Europe (AE) celebrated the annual Alzheimer's Association Academy. Representatives from 23 countries and 8 European institutions (including the European Parliament) as well as other related entities attended to the event.
The issues to be addressed were marked by the current situation in terms of research and legislation on Alzheimer's. Strategies such as #votetoremember of the past Irish elections or other awareness campaigns that have been carried out recently were presented. There was also training regarding the decision-making processes of the European Union to encourage different countries to submit proposals in favor of the Alzheimer population.
The processes of clinical trials were also discussed. The speaker of Fundació ACE, the neurologist Carla Abdelnour, presented the evaluations and neuropsychological scales that are performed to different patients and carers throughout the clinical trials. The organization considered the 2016 Alzheimer's Association Academy to be a success and has already announced that the next one will take place in December 2017.
