Coinciding with World Alzheimer's Day, Fundació ACE launches a new campaign named Give Memory to raise public awareness about the need for resources for research to combat the disease, considered by the World Health Organization (WHO) a "social and medical pandemic."
As the linchpin of the campaign Regala Memory, the Foundation has launched through social networks, the next video.
The initiative aims to raise awareness on the need to strengthen research and invited to make donations to reinforce the action that the ACE Foundation carried out since 1995, with the evaluation of more than 20,000 cases and that each year, diagnosed about 900 new patients, only in Barcelona. Donations can be made here.
The launch of the video is the first of the actions planned by Fundació ACE for World Alzheimer's Day. Dr. Mercè Boada, founder and medical director of the Foundation, insists that "further research is needed to overcome Alzheimer" and recalls that "it is a disease that affects one in ten people over 65 and 50% of the population over 85, magnitudes expected to triple by 2050 ". Currently, more than 140,000 people in Catalonia suffer from Alzheimer's disease, of which 96,000 are women. In Spain, it is estimated that there are 800,000 people who have it. It is expected that by 2050 the figure will reach more than 1.7 million affected.
