Fundació ACE trains volunteers of Amics de la gent Gran in the approach of dementia

 

Fundació ACE led this September a course on dementia for volunteers of the association Amics de la Gent Gran. The session have addressed the main characteristics of neurodegenerative diseases associated with aging, among which Alzheimer's and other types of dementias stand out, providing tools to make a good accompaniment to people with cognitive impairment.

The training sessions, that were held on September 14th and 21st, were given by Pilar Cañabate, head of the Social Work area of ​​Fundació ACE, and by Anna Gailhajanet, coordinator of the Day Hospital of the Foundation. At the moment, it is already planned to hold a second edition of the course on October 19th and 26th.

Amics de la Gent Gran is an organization that works to improve the quality of life of the elderly, fighting against loneliness and the social marginalization of this group through the action of volunteers that accompany them.
