“It was night and it was raining. I turned around and I looked into her eyes…” With this verse begins the lyrics created by a group of students of a catalan school in Solsona. What began as a solidarity project of the school has become a hymn that has moved Catalan society. The song is titled “Don’t ask me to remember you”, which is the beginning of the chorus and it wants to be the anthem for families affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

From now on you can see the music video of the theme, performed by Salva Racero, former Lax’n Busto vocalist. As the beginning of the video highlights, it is a tribute to the relatives and caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s.

The hymn came from the idea of taking a step further in raising awareness about Alzheimer’s disease, in collaboration with the AFA (Solsona Alzheimer’s Association of Families). As the school website explains, the students had already organized an Alzheimer’s walk but realized that they did not reach all the public and that it was conditioned by physical distance.

This song turned out as the big idea to move people and to raise awareness on this disease.

It was night and it rained,
I turned around and looked into her eyes.
She was afraid and I could felt it,
Seeing me gave her the courage.
With a sad voice she dropped
That someday she wouldn’t be able to remember.
And with fear in the body she begged me
That when she no longer knows my name
I don’t stop loving her.

Don’t ask me to remember you.
Tell me all those moments we had together.
Hold my hand strong, keep it tight and don’t let go…
Don’t let go.

With a hand in her heart she hinted at me
that in spite of everything she would never forget me.
She raised her arm very slowly,
She came over and very gently caressed me.

Don’t ask me to remember you.
Tell me all those moments we had together.
Hold my hand strong, keep it tight and don’t let go…
Don’t let go.
