Dr. Montse Alegret is a neuropsychologist and holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Barcelona. In 1996 she won the third National Prize for Completion of Psychology Studies from the Ministry of Education and the 1995-96 Extraordinary Degree Prize awarded by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
On the other hand, she specialized in the Department of Psychobiology and Clinical Psychology of the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Barcelona and in the Movement Disorders Unit of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. In this sense, Alegret has extensive experience in diagnosis, clinical management, neuropsychological evaluation, cognitive stimulation and research on different neurodegenerative diseases.
She is currently the Chief of the Clinical Neuropsychology Unit of Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona, carrying out clinical and research tasks. She is also a member of the research team for national (FACEHBI) and international (MOPEAD) projects on early detection of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
To date, he has published more than 60 articles in prestigious journals and 4 book chapters included in dementia textbooks. Alegret is an associate editor of the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease and the Latin American Journal of Neuropsychology. She is also a reviewer of European projects funded by the European Commission and international journals such as the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatrty and Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology.
