A night for Alzheimer's disease

.

A year ago, on August 8, 2016, the first edition of The Alzheimer's Night took place, which counted from the beginning with the support and generosity of the Castell de Peralada Foundation. The proceeds went entirely to the NORFACE project. This project aims to improve the quality of diagnosis in the early stages of Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases through the use of OCT.

The technique could be implemented in the consultation of memory clinics or in the usual clinical practice and would change the model of diagnosis and prognosis of neurodegenerative diseases.

Fundació ACE intended to dedicate these funds to implement the new technique to 500 patients for 3 years and develop the use of this technique to make initial forecasts more accurate, faster, economical and non-invasive.

Only in the first year of the study, thanks to the contributions obtained during the first Alzheimer's Night, Fundació ACE has been able to apply the test to more than 3,000 people.

Second edition of the Alzheimer's Night

The second edition of The Alzheimer's Night wants to give impulse to an initiative of a wider scope. This year's collection will go to the creation and initial impulse of the activities of the Unit for Prevention and Early Detection of Alzheimer's disease.

This Unit, which has no precedent in our country, will be the institutional framework for initiatives of a medical, social or scientific nature aimed at preventing or detecting the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease as soon as possible.

Fundació ACE again presents an innovative proposal, and thanks the Castillo de Peralada Foundation and the participants of the second edition of the Alzheimer's Night, the willingness to collaborate.
