Fundació Castell de Peralada in the 2019 Festival edition has once again given its support to Fundació ACE research projects in the field of Alzheimer's and dementias.
This year, at the opening of the Castell de Peralada Festival, that took place on July 4th , attendees were able to make voluntary contributions directed to the NORFACE project (Neuro-ophthalmology Research at the ACE Foundation). This study, led by Fundació ACE, analyzes the relationship between cognitive impairment and the thickness of the retina, in order to advance the early detection of Alzheimer's.
To do so, the project uses Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), an inexpensive, fast and painless test that consists in the realization of a photograph of the bottom of the eye.
Dr. Mercè Boada, Medical Director at Fundació ACE, has highlighted the generosity and support received: "Thanks to the contribution of entities such as the Fundació Castell de Peralada in the research of the disease, we can continue to research and advance to make one day Alzheimer's history."
