Goodbye to Carmen Mateu Quintana

Her bet in the fight against Alzheimer's is an example for society

She has been known for being the face of performance arts in Catalonia and Spain. Her legacy, the Peralada International Music Festival is a unique socio-cultural event thanks to the work that she and her family have put on for over 30 years. However, Carmen Mateu Quintana has also been a great bulwark in the fight against Alzheimer's. Both at a personal level and at an institutional level, the support she has given to Fundació ACE, consolidated in the creation of the Alzheimer's Night, is undoubtedly another great legacy of Carmen Mateu. In the words of Dr. Mercè Boada, medical director of Fundació ACE, "Carmen was one of those people who do not leave you indifferent. Meeting her has been an honor and a pleasure." Likewise, Mr. Lluís Tárraga, chief executive officer, declares that "we will always be grateful for her support in the fight against Alzheimer's. We will always thank her and her family, to whom, in these moments, we would like to give the warmest of hugs along with all our support. " The Alzheimer's Night is a charity gala celebrated one of the nights of the Peralada Festival. It will celebrate its third edition this year. Personalities from the scientific, artistic, social and political world attend the event and its benefits are used to fund a research project on Alzheimer's disease at Fundació ACE. The first editions, in 2016 and 2017, have been a great success with the collection of 30,000 and 26,000 euros respectively.   carmen mateu From left to right: Mr. Lluís Tárraga, Mrs. Carmen Mateu and Dr. Mercè Boada at the II edition of the Alzheimer's Night.
