Fundación ACE - Barcelona Alzheimer Treatment & Research Center, specializing in the diagnosis, research, treatment of people with cognitive impairment and dementia, with the collaboration of the Castell de Peralada Foundation, has celebrated the Alzheimer's Night, in the framework of the prestigious Festival Castell de Peralada.

This solidarity initiative, which seeks to consolidate itself as the annual meeting point between society and the world of research, treatment and prevention of Alzheimer's disease, was born to sensitize society about the need to invest in research to advance the Fight against Alzheimer's.

Specifically, the funds of this new edition are intended to finance the Prevention and Early diagnosis Unit of Alzheimer's, a pioneering initiative throughout the state.

Through the unit, the ACE Foundation aims to emphasize the importance of detecting Alzheimer's in mild phases, as the treatments we have today are more effective at this stage of the disease.

In addition to the Castell de Peralada Foundation, the event has been sponsored by private companies such as Moventis-Sarfa, Abertis and Fercercat.

Famous faces supporting the work of Fundación ACE

Among the attendees have seen familiar faces of the cultural, social and institutional panorama, aware of the Foundation's need to obtain resources to advance the fight against Alzheimer's. Among them, the director of the Catalan Health Service (CatSalut), David Elvira, and actress Aida Fix.

The solidarity event has brought together some 100 people who have enjoyed a dinner, which has taken place in the White Hall of the Castle. Later they attended the representation of the ballet La Bella and the Beast, which arrives for the first time in Catalonia with the hand of the French choreographer Thierry Malandain.

The show, which brings together staging of apparent simplicity, with live music based on the score of Tchaikovsky, in charge of the Basque Symphony Orchestra, has captivated the eyes of the attendees at the event. At the end of the performance, the guests have agreed to a meeting & greet, in the castle gardens, with the artists and the team that made the representation possible.

During the gala, conducted by journalist Josep Puigbó, attendees have heard the live performance of former vocalist Lax'n'Busto, singer Salva Racero, who has interpreted Do not ask me to remind you. The subject, which is already known as the anthem for the fight against Alzheimer's, has been created by the students of 3rd grade of the Arrels de Solsona school.

Give Memory campaign

In the course of Alzheimer's Night, ACE Foundation has presented the new video of the Regala 2017 memory campaign, the initiative to raise awareness of the disease and capture economic resources to invest in the research projects it promotes since 2015.

Within the framework of the campaign, different activities are planned throughout the year, such as the implementation of a program for school children, conferences or other promotional activities. The video will be officially released, as every year, coinciding with World Alzheimer's Day and its dissemination will be made through social networks.

Regarding the importance of contributing to the investigation, during his intervention, Dr. Mercè Boada, founder and medical director of the ACE Foundation, insisted that "it is necessary to continue investing in research, to find a cure, but also to advance in the prediction of the disease and to stop it before the symptoms manifest."
