Opera for research
Today, 8 September, makes a month since the first edition of the Alzheimer's Night. Fundació ACE and Fundació Castell de Peralada jointly organized the event held in the vicinity of Castle Peralada. The gala included the representation of Turandot, the opera that produced this year's International Music Festival Peralada on its 30th anniversary.
Overnight Alzheimer's, journalist Josep Puigbó NORFACE presented the project, which funds collected at the gala will go. NORFACE is a personal project of Fundació ACE investigating the relationship between the thickness of the retina and cognitive impairment. To achieve positive results, this study would significantly improve the chances of getting an early and less invasive diagnosis.
In her speech, the cofounder and Medical Director of Fundació ACE, Mercè Boada claimed the need to invest in research. Boada, recently named Creu de Sant Jordi by the Catalan government, thanked Peralada's collaboration and promised that "tonight we will discover the dilemmas of Turandot and one day, we will discover Alzheimer's dilemma".
