Dr. Carla Abdelnour will talk about how robots can contribute to a cure for people with Alzheimer

Deputy Director of Clinical Trials Department of Fundació ACE and Coordinator of the study group Fundació ACE Social Technology and Robotics Research (FACESTARR), Dr. Carla Abdelnour, will make a presentation next Friday, January 17 at the Axa Winterthur auditorium, in the framework of a TEDTalks meeting.

Titled "House robots - help for the elderly", Dr. Abdelnour's presentation will discuss how robotic technology will help us in the future to take care of people with neurodegenerative diseases.

Every 3 seconds a person with dementia in the world is diagnosed and by 2050 it is estimated that there will be 152 million people who will suffer from this disease, so it is necessary to develop new strategies of care and cognitive stimulation to help them. Robots have the potential to help with activities of daily living and there are numerous european initiatives - including RAMCIP and Socrates projects - which aim to design robots that help people with dementia and their caregivers.

After the session, attendees will be able to interact with Thiago robot, which UPC gives exclusively for this session.

The event will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. If you are interested in attending, you can buy the ticket through this link:
