Professor Victor L. Villemagne will visit on April 2nd Fundació ACE to offer a lecture on the current state and main challenges of using biomarkers in the research of dementias and other neurodegenerative diseases.
In the conference, entitled "Use of biomarkers for the study and evaluation of neurodegenerative diseases," Dr. Villemagne will address the use of main biomarkers used in the current research, such as amyloid and tau PET scanner, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and plasma.
Victor Villemagne is an associate professor at the Department of Medicine at the University of Melbourne and Senior Research Fellow in Neuroscience at the Department of Molecular Imaging & Therapy of Austin Health.
After specializing in nuclear medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine (Baltimore), he continued his research at the National Institute on Drug Abuse, National Institutes of Health, and University of Pittsburgh. His main research interest is the in-vivo imaging of brain pathology in ageing and neurodegenerative disorders.
