Opera afternoon at the Gran Teatre del Liceu
The users of the Hospital and Day Center of Fundació ACE enjoyed yesterday an afternoon of opera at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona by attending to the rehearsal of L'italiana in Algeri.
In the session, only three days before the premier, the Liceu opened its doors to different entities working in the area of Alzheimer’s and other dementias, inviting people affected by these kind of diseases, as well as their relatives and caregivers. During the nearly 3 hours of the essay, the public enjoyed this hilarious opera by the Italian composer Gioachino Rossini, which is back at the Liceu after 36 years of absence.
As part of the same initiative, a representation of the Liceu, headed by the cellist Matthias Weinmann, visit a few days before the Day Center of Fundació ACE to offer a music conference about the opera with the aim of explaining the plot and highlighting its key moments.
The initiative is the result of the Apropa Cultura program that facilitates access to art, theatre, dance, music or other artistic expressions to groups with special needs.
