Dr. Boada has been appointed as a member of the WHAM Board of Directors

Dr. Mercè Boada, neurologist, co-founder and medical director of Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona, has been invited to join the Board of Directors of Women's Health Access Matters (WHAM) 2023.

WHAM is a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding women's health research in autoimmunity, heart, brain and cancer. This project was born in 2018 to address the funding gap, the historical exclusion and the underrepresentation of women in health research.

Each year, WHAM appoints different personalities, leaders in the business, health and philanthropic sectors to lead the organization and generate high-impact results on a global scale. On this occasion, they have invited Dr. Boada to sit on the Board of Directors, due to her professional career in the research of neurodegenerative diseases and dementias and for her scientific, social and feminine leadership in the field of Alzheimer disease.

Dr. Mercè Boada has been very grateful, emphasising that "it is a great honour to sit on the Board of an organization like WHAM dedicated to health research with a feminine approach to transform lives of women." Thanks to organizations like this, women are increasingly represented in research, destining more resources to the study of diseases and conditions that impact women exclusively or differently.
